Three arrested on fraud charges

Three people jailed last week face fraud and other charges in multiple counties.

Jail records show 33-year-old Jermaine Montrel Baker, 35-year-old Mikquel Deon Hill and 19-year-old Zakiya Ametria Gibbs were booked last Monday. Wadesboro police arrested Baker and Hill while Anson County deputies took Gibbs into custody.

Baker faces four counts of possession of five or more counterfeit instruments in Richmond County and one count each of forgery of instrument and uttering a forged instrument in Anson County. He’s being held under a combined $400,000 secured bond.

Hill is charged with four counts of possession of five or more counterfeit instruments in Richmond County and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense in Anson County. He was also jailed under a $400,000 bond.

Gibbs faces four counts each of possession of a counterfeit instrument, uttering a forged instrument and obtaining property by false pretense in Richmond County, along with a charge of felony conspiracy in Anson County and assault inflicting serious injury in Cumberland County. Her bond was set at $230,000.

Hill and Baker are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20. Gibbs’ court date was set for Oct. 27.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
