Lilesville FD names new fire queen

The Lilesville Fire Department named Karmen Dawkins as its new fire queen.

Dawkins, 16, is the daughter of LFD assistant chief Ricky Dawkins.

She attends Anson High School, where her favorite subject is English. When she finishes school, she plans to go into nursing.

While Dawkins enjoys doing anything outdoors, she has a particular fondness for four-wheeling.

Dawkins has two younger siblings, Hunter and Taylor. She is the daughter of Dana Horne, of Polkton, and the stepdaughter of Katie Dawkins, of Lilesville.

The teenager is carrying on a family tradition: both her aunts and her stepmother have been fire queens in the past.
