WADESBORO — Hundreds of pinwheels will pop up in Anson County for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The Anson County Partnership for Children has collaborated with the Anson County Domestic Violence Coalition to support Child Abuse Prevention Month with a Pinwheels for Prevention Garden and community campaign.
Starting April 1st, community members will spot the blue pinwheels, the national symbol for child abuse prevention, in local businesses and organizations. The pinwheels’ whimsical and childlike notions are reminders of the great childhoods we want for all children.
At 9 a.m. on Monday, April 4 the Pinwheels for Prevention Garden will open in front of the Anson County courthouse with an opening ceremony.
“We encourage all community members to attend as a pledge to take a stand against child abuse,” Caroline Goins, Executive Director of the Anson County Partnership for Children said. “Shining in the sun, the pinwheel is reflective of the bright future all children deserve and our belief that getting it right early is less costly than trying to fix it later.”
National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the necessity of communities working together to promote the social and emotional well-being of all children and their families. All adults play a role in building the safe, stable, nurturing homes and environments needed for the healthy development of our future generation of parents, leaders, and community members. North Carolina’s future prosperity depends on it.
