A Wadesboro man was arrested this month for allegedly trying to kill a man he robbed last summer.

Jalynn Samuel Bennett, 20, stole a gold watch valued at $100 and threatened to shoot the victim with a handgun on Aug. 12, 2016, according to arrest warrants. He allegedly fired the gun, intending to kill the victim.

Bennett was arrested on Jan. 14 and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, both felonies.

He was booked in the Union County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in Anson County on Jan. 31.

Bennett has no criminal record in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
