Wadesboro police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that allegedly knocked out power on South Greene Street last week.

At about 1:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, a car hit a utility pole along the road, according to the police and one resident of the street.

Julian Swittenberg, co-owner of The Dream Inn, snapped photos of crews restoring power hours later when there was daylight. He said the collision happened around 1:30 a.m. and that the vehicle left the scene.

The inn is located at 214 South Greene Street.

Sgt. Ephraim Davis and another department representative confirmed that the department has not yet located the vehicle, but said that the collision caused about $1,500 in damage to utility pole components.

Police are still investigating the incident.
