A Wadesboro man used a wooden stake to try and kill a man last weekend, according to the Wadesboro Police Department.

Matt Enrichardson Colson, 22, allegedly attacked a man with a section of a wooden board, described as a stake, trying to kill the victim on July 8.

Colson was arrested that day by Wadesboro police and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was booked in the Anson County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 18. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

State records show that Colson has no prior convictions in the state of North Carolina, and no other pending court cases.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
