The 2018 county budget was unanimously approved at the June 28 session, with minimal adjustments and no concerns from the county commissioners.
Interim County Manager Rita James said adjustments were made due to already awarded and budget grants, an additional grant received after the budget was presented, and “minor tweaking to some building budgets” due to receiving more accurate estimates for the cost of repairs.
The county received a $45,000 elderly and handicapped grant, which will benefit both the Department of Elderly and Senior Services and the Anson County Transportation System.
Emergency Medical Services personnel will benefit from a $10,000 grant to purchase Naloxone to reduce the effects of opioid overdoses.
The board of commissioners was scheduled to meet Monday night, July 9.
