Approximately 200 people were in attendance to support Anson County’s Dancing with the Stars Friday at Wadesboro Primary School; and at the end of the night, Wendy and Mike Hill had the most votes from the audience, and took home the Mirror Ball Trophy.
The Anson Women’s League, sponsor for an evening that filled the auditorium, raised $3,000 for scholarships and other community outreach projects.
The Hills started the show with a scene re-enactment of “Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which included a surprise guest and guitar solos.
Wadesboro Police Chief Thedis Spencer and his grandson Kyle performed the latest dance trend, “The Git Up” by Blanco Brown.
David and Caty Edwards brought swing dancing back to life with an energetic routine to “Jump, Jive, and Wall” by the Brian Setzer Orchestra.
Torforya and Curtis Hailey surprised the audience with a three-song mashup of “Time of My Life,” “Biker Shuffle,” and the “Mississippi Shuffle.”
Gina Clark and Sophia Goodwin danced to a special cut of “It’s Dangerous” by Michael Jackson, adding backflips and stunning the audience with their routine.
The last dance was a re-creation of the classic scene from the movie “Dirty Dancing.” Luke and Anne Hyatt danced to Bill Medley’s “Time of My Life.”
There were three perfect scores of the night from the panel of judges. Those scores went to the Hyatts, Edwards and Goodwins.
The audience had an opportunity to dance to music provided by Leon Gatewood while votes were counted.
