To the editor:
I thank you for every letter the Richmond County Journal published from me since I was in Vietnam in 1965 and ‘66.
I wrote about my love for my God, my country, my brothers in combat and how we’re willing to die for what we believed.
Over 57,000 paid that sacrifice. Others made it home, but too many today still live in that war. More are still dying now from the poison of Agent Orange. Usually heart attack and many cancers, etc.
It hurts for the veterans of the Middle East wars that suffered, died, many at home now still suffer in body and mind. Church is the only place some can sit in a crowd.
I have much respect for our veterans, police and first responders willing to die for others.
We can all see the wars, killing, disasters of every kind around the world. Too many are starving, sick, dying, with no hope.
Here, from west to east, people have lost everything to fire, flood, storms. Some have died, many hurt. All these things will get worse every year.
I’ve never read anything that promises a life of joy and peace without hurt, sorrow and death. However, Christians around the world know we are in God’s hands, whatever our condition.
We are saved by faith in Jesus dying for our sins, and God’s mercy and grace.
God loves his children everywhere and wants us to come near him in prayer with no doubt or fear. Only with him are all things possible.
Please! Prayer can make our home, country and the world a far better place than our government or any other nation will ever do.
I hope the R.C. Journal will print this, and everyone that reads it will stop and pray today, for this world outside of your four walls.
