ANSON — Making his announcement a little earlier than planned, Sheriff Scott Howell declared his intention today to again run for the office of Anson County’s Sheriff in response to rumors circulating around the county in recent days to the contrary.
Seeking to clear the air regarding his intentions, as well as address the concerns of his fellow Ansonians, Sheriff Howell released the following statement;
“I enjoy serving the citizens of Anson County. I have heard some rumors in the last couple weeks that some are saying that I am not running for a second term. These rumors are false. I would like to take this opportunity to say I am 110% going to run for a second term in the 2026 election for the Anson County Sheriff. I feel that I have made several positive changes to our Sheriff’s office, 911 Communications and the Anson County Detention Center that is serving our county well. I feel there is still work to be done to continue improving our services for our citizens. Therefore, my staff and I will continue to serve Anson County with professionalism, integrity, compassion and honesty.”
