August 9

MORVEN — At 11:38 a.m., deputies arrived at a residence on Hwy. US 52 South in response to a report of a “tire shanking.” Speaking with the victim, Deputy Austin D. Langley learned the actual tire slashing had occurred three days prior. Finding all four of the tires, valued at $100, on their Nissan Frontier pick-up truck knifed, the victim took his truck to a repair shop, where he had all four of his tires filled. Noticing the front tires were again flat after only three days, the victim explained to Deputy Langley he was now interested in filing a report. Case is active.

WADESBORO — At 5:56 p.m., deputies arrived at a home on Morgan Sellers Rd. in response to a report of a damaged front door, possibly resultant of a shooting. When Deputy Jacky King reached the residence, he learned from the victim that her children heard what sounded like gunshots earlier in the day. When she went to open her front door, she found the glass of her screen door shattered around a hole in the upper right corner of the window. In one of the children’s bedrooms,’ a hole consistent with a bullet was found, corresponding with damage observed on one of the shutters in front of the child’s room. Damage appeared to match an entry hole. Later, the victim found a bullet lodged in her kitchen. Notified by dispatch, Deputies Cox and Marsh responded to retrieve the evidence at 7:24 p.m. Total damage is estimated at $5,000. The case is active.

WADESBORO — At 6:49 p.m. Deputy Jacky King responded to a home on Union St. after a victim reported someone made a threatening phone call to them. More menacing than specific, the caller told the victim he would be either burning or shooting them as he was disappointed the victim’s testimony in an earlier case had resulted in the caller being arrested a few days earlier. The case is active.

August 10

LILESVILLE — At 7:46 a.m., dispatch alerted Deputy Cory Howard a gang of young brown dogs broke into a pen and murdered several cats at a residence on Haileys Ferry Rd. Upon arriving, Deputy Howard observed several dead cats, dig marks and a hole at the back of the enclosed area where the cats lived. The victim reported chasing the alleged killers off her land the evening before and knew them to belong to a gentleman down the road from her home. When Deputy Howard followed up with the suspected owner, no one came to the door, though he noted observing several dogs matching the victim’s description loitering around the property. The case is active.

WADESBORO — At 11:11 a.m., Deputy Kyle Beam spoke with a victim by phone, who reported someone breaking the glass out of the rear driver side door of his 2012 Chrysler 200S, damage valued at $300. According to the victim, the car was secure at 5 p.m. the night before. Conducting a search of the vehicle, the victim determined nothing to be missing. A witness reported hearing the car’s alarm sounding around 3 p.m. Case is active.

MORVEN — At 10:05 p.m., Deputy Stephen D. Marsh responded to East Main St. in reference to an assault. Arriving at the scene, Deputy Marsh learned from the victim he was jumped by two unknown males while attempting to pass by the closed service station. Not bleeding, the victim reported his head hurt to Deputy Marsh. EMS was notified and the victim was transported to Atrium Anson. Case is active.

August 12

MORVEN — At 8:59 a.m., Deputy Luis Galvan responded to Sandy Ridge Church Rd. following a report of someone shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, damaging the window and steering wheel, valued at $500. Case is active.
