Cub Scout Pack 530 is hosting an electronics recycling drive on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at Peachland Untied Methodist Church where residents and business owners can drop off old and broken electronics and appliances, as well as used toner cartridges

They will take computers, phones, monitors, VCR/DVD players, small appliances, white goods, TVs, as well as old disks and flash drives — anything that charges up or plugs in. And it’s free.

Certificates of destruction are available so donors can be assured their data is safe. Residents are encouraged to help keep Anson County “Clean and Green.”

Anyone with questions should contact Laura Laney at 704-994-98173.

What are the benefits and advantages of recycle e-waste?

Conserves natural resources. Recycling recovers valuable materials from old electronics that can be used to make new products. As a result, we save energy, reduce pollution, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and save resources by extracting fewer raw materials from the earth.

Protects your surroundings. Safe recycling of outdated electronics promotes sound management of toxic chemicals such as lead and mercury.

Helps others. Donating your used electronics benefits your community by passing on ready-to-use or refurbished equipment to those who need it.

Creates Jobs. eCycling creates jobs for professional recyclers and refurbishers and creates new markets for the valuable components that are dismantled. The scouts’ recycling partner is in Anson County.

Saves landfill space. E-waste is a growing waste stream. By recycling these items, landfill space is conserved.
