Three men were arrested on drug and firearm charges after being pulled over for a traffic violation in Wadesboro last Sunday, May 24.
Shaquille Polk, 21, Dallas Devon Leak, 22, and Johnathan Hinson, 23, all of Wadesboro, were pulled over at about 10:18 p.m. on Sunday on Orchard Street by Wadesboro police for a speeding violation, according to Chief Thedis Spencer.
Once the three stopped, officers found a semi-automatic rifle, two hand guns, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Spencer said.
Polk was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession with intent to sell and deliver. He is being held in the Anson County Jail under a $13,500 bond.
He has a record with the North Carolina Department of Corrections for attempting to discharge a firearm in an occupied vehicle on Sept. 3, 2012, and for both discharging and attempting to discharge a firearm in an occupied vehicle — both felonies — on Sept. 30, 2012. He was released from Brown Creek Correctional Institution on Feb. 1.
Leak was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver, possession of a firearm by a felon, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was also taken to the county jail under a $13,500 bond.
He was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, felony breaking and entering, willful and wanton injury to personal property, receiving and possessing a firearm, and possessing stolen goods in 2011, and possession of a firearm by a felon in 2012. He was most recently held in Polk Correctional Institution for eight months for the assault, receiving and possessing a firearm, and breaking and entering charges, getting released on Jan. 1, 2014, according to the N.C. Department of Corrections.
Hinson was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the county jail and held under a $4,000 bond.
None of the men were listed as inmates in the Anson County Jail on Friday afternoon.
