Little Miss Las Amigas- Morven chapter queen crowned

For the Record Taylor Newton, the 2017 queen of the Morven chapter of Las Amigas, Inc., was crowned on May 20.

The Morven chapter of Las Amigas, Inc., held its 29th annual Little Miss Las Amigas Pageant in Morven on Saturday evening, May 20 at Morven Elementary School.

Taylor Newton of Rockingham was crowned Little Miss Las Amigas.

Taylor is a third-grader at East Rockingham Elementary School and is the daughter of Latoshia Nicholson and Roderick Newton of Rockingham. She is a member of Grace Temple Fellowship Church in Wallace, South Carolina. Taylor was sponsored in the pageant by Las Amigas sister Pat McCoy.

The second-place winner was Wykeria Sa’mone Little, daughter of Sharon Harrell and Terrance Little of Wadesboro. Wykeria is a sixth-grader at Wadesboro Elementary School. She attends Victory Temple Miracle Center in Wadesboro. Wykeria was sponsored by Las Amigas sister JoLetha Little.

The third-place winner was Paris Steward, daughter of Markess Steward of Wadesboro. Paris is in kindergarten at Peachland-Polkton Elementary School in Polkton. She attends Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church in Wadesboro. Paris was sponsored by Las Amigas sister Winnie Bennett.

The pageant theme was “Hawaiian Dream Girls.” Altavis Pratt of Raleigh served as the sistress of ceremonies. Nevada Lilly and Streater Grove A.M.E. Zion Church’s youth choir provided entertainment.

The Morven chapter of Las Amigas, Inc. is local, non-profit group which provides educational and other social activities designed to improve the Anson County community.
