ANSON — The Anson County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce two new hires: Deputy John Lugo and Deputy Chase Raffaldt.

ANSON COUNTY — The Anson County School District recently announced Brian C. Ratliff will serve another term as Interim Superintendent of Anson County Schools, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.

As part of his continuing efforts to provide the best care and service to Ansonians, Sheriff Scott Howell completed a training course in Leadership for First Responders through the University of Wake Forrest last week. Congratulations Sheriff!

WADESBORO — The newly remodeled Wadesboro ABC store on East Caswell Street held one of its many Customer Appreciation Day events recently. Hotdogs with all the fixings, chips, and a soda were handed out to every person who entered the store, whether they made a purchase or not, all for free, in a gesture of good will and thanks to the community.

WADESBORO — Saturday Ansonians joined millions across the nation in protesting the United States elected president, Donald J. Trump through the nation-wide protest No King’s Day. June 14 is not only recognized as Flag Day, protests coincided with the President’s birthday, and also a military parade honoring the 250-year anniversary of the US Army.

ANSON COUNTY — The Anson County Department of Health and Human Services held a county-wide Community Baby Shower for those who are expecting or know of someone who is expecting. Donations were made over the last couple months that included diapers, wipes, bottles, clothes, even homemade cookies.
