McLeod Pediatrics Cheraw has been awarded the 2019 Gold Immunization Coverage award by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
This annual, statewide award recognizes medical practices with high immunization rates for pediatric patients and is part of a larger national effort by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s AFIX program.
The Assessment, Feedback, Incentives eXchange program was established by the CDC in 1994 to increase the vaccinations of children and adolescents with those vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
There are three tiers for award recognition: gold, silver and bronze.
Gold recognizes providers who have 90 percent to 100 percent vaccination coverage rates for the combined 7-vaccine series for patients two years of age. The 7-vaccine series includes DTaP, polio, measles-containing vaccine, Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b; hepatitis B; varicella (chickenpox) and PCV (pneumonia vaccine). These are seven of the routinely recommended vaccines that children should have completed by two years old.
