First Baptist open house includes children’s play

First Baptist Church on Lee Avenue is hosting an open house Sunday from 4 until 5:30 p.m.

According to the news release, the public is invited to come see the church decorated for Advent, listen to volunteers share the background of the Chrismons, and enjoy refreshments with Christmas cookies.

There will be five Christmas trees throughout the church, allowing for family photos if desired. The downstairs fellowship hall will be devoted to children, complete with Santa’s workshop.

At 5:30 p.m., all children are invited to a special Christmas program, including an unrehearsed play. All children will have an opportunity to choose a costume, take a part and participate in hearing and telling the Christmas story.

At 6 p.m., after adults have been dismissed for other church services, children and youth will have a Christmas celebration with a snack supper, a gift and a special visitor. All children in the community are invited, and they are encouraged to bring a friend. There is no charge.
