Dr. Tangula A. Diggs, an evangelist and assistant pastor of Friendship One Accord Worldwide Church of God, will speak at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church on May 7.
Diggs is the daughter of the late Lucinda Diggs Redfern and was born, reared and educated in Wadesboro. An honor graduate from Anson High School, Diggs attended UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC- Pembroke, Nova Southeastern University and Fisher Hill Bible College.
Diggs is an educator in the Anson County school district and an instructor for Apex School of Theology. In addition to being a National Board-certified educator, Diggs has earned various accolades, including: Teacher of the Year, Young Educator of the Year, N.C. Regional Support Person of the Year, Outstanding Teacher of the Gifted Congressional Scholar and Who’s Who among America’s Teachers.
After traveling to numerous countries and receiving many accolades, Diggs’ call to the ministry is her most rewarding and fulfilling accomplishment. Jan. 15 marks the anniversary of her initial sermon preached in 2005. Diggs builds her life around spreading God’s word and finds good pleasure in loving, serving and encouraging people.
“Dr. Diggs was chosen as the speaker because of her enormous love for others and her ‘servant’ attitude,” said Vancine Sturdivant, the program’s director. “I want our youth and young mothers to see we have citizens their age (who are) willing to give back to our community. Dr. Diggs was very helpful during the holidays with helping me feed the less fortunate. She is truly a servant of God. She is making a difference.”
The Rev. Michael McLeod is the pastor of Pleasant Hill.
Diggs will speak during the church’s Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7.
