WADESBORO — The North Carolina Press Association presented your local paper with four awards during a virtual event on Feb. 26.
The Anson Record won two 2nd place awards and two 3rd place awards during this year’s contest. Submitted articles had to be published between Oct. 2019 and Sept. 2020.
• 2nd Place in City, County Government Reporting: Charles Wood for “Anson County removes Confederate monument”
• 2nd Place in Feature Writing: Liz O’Connell for “School custodian publishes his first children’s book”
• 3rd Place in Education Reporting: Liz O’Connell for “Parental involvement in school increasing with remote learning”
• 3rd Place in News Feature Writing: Liz O’Connell for “Anson volunteers help fight west coast fires”
