WADESBORO — With the pandemic straining the economy, it is more important than ever to support small, local businesses — and Harvest Ministries is doing just that.
Led by Harvest members Jamila Crawford and Amethra Crawford, they hosted a spring vendor pop-up shop as well as a bake-off featuring local bakers at Harvest’s new CityReach Community Center next door to the main building. “We wanted to bring people together and showcase the local bakers and vendors,” they said.
Local leaders Leon Gatewood, Hannah Dunlap, and Chipper Long judged the bake-off which included five bakers’ cakes and cookies. Winners were Lorraine Kifer, Taniqua Lindsey, and Aaliyah Crawford.
Vendors included purses, clothing, hair accessories, candles, art work, and baked goods. There were also concessions and a Hawaiian food truck onsite.
“There’s a lot of small businesses around Anson County we need to support.”
