A Wadesboro man is awaiting a court appearance on a murder charge, accused of killing a woman and trying to kill a man last weekend.
Sherod Davon Hill, 25, of Bethel Road, allegedly shot Ella Marie Campbell and James David Taylor around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at a residence on Dogwood Street, according to a Wadesboro Police Department press release sent Thursday.
Investigators say both victims were taken to Carolinas HealthCare System-Anson, where Campbell died. Taylor was then taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Taylor’s injuries or condition were not specified. The ages of Campbell and Taylor also were not listed
Hill was arrested July 18 and charged with one count each of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
He is being held in the Anson County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 1.
The case is still under investigation with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
Online court records show Hill already has several charges pending in Anson County: one felony count each of larceny, larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle; and one misdemeanor count each of simple affray, being intoxicated and disruptive, and possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana.
Hill was convicted on a misdemeanor of wanton injury to personal property in October of 2010 and received probation, according to records with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
