WADESBORO — Following a welfare check on September 8, a missing Wadesboro man is suspected of meeting with foul play after his driver’s side car window was found busted out following a September 6 altercation allegedly involving shots fired inside the Pineview Circle trailer park.

Darryl Leon Richardson Sr., 35, of 212 Pineview Circle, is described as a 161 lbs., 5”7 African American man with brown eyes and hair, and medium-length dreads.

Reported missing by his mother, Richardson has not been seen or heard from by friends or family members since September 6. His mother, Jackie Richardson, reports she has not had contact with her son since September 4. Aware of the September 6 altercation, she reported that someone had approached his residence and fired shots, prompting Richardson to chase the armed individual into a wooded area near his home. Following the incident, the missing man’s Chevy Tahoe remained parked in the side yard. Ms. Richardson became alarmed when she did not hear from her son and after finding his vehicle still in the side yard, now with a busted in driver’s side window and his wallet lying on the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

Arriving to conduct the welfare check, Deputies Cox, Alexson and Marsh observed the damage to Richardson’s vehicle. Attempts to make contact with someone inside the residence went unanswered. However, deputies were able to reach the property owner, Shaquanna Ratliff, via her video doorbell. Ratliff later arrived at the scene and claimed to be unaware of the damage to the Tahoe, though she did confirm the vehicle belongs to the missing man. She said he left the vehicle there after a disturbance on Sep. 6 and had not returned since. Ratliff mentioned attempting to contact him several times with his phone going to voicemail every time. Richardson’s mother also reported calling her son several times since September 4. His phone continuously going to voicemail, which she stated was uncharacteristic of her son.

Still at the scene, deputies ran the vehicle registration for the missing man’s Chevy Tahoe, which came back as a Pontiac registered to a Clifton Richardson, proving the NC registration to be fictitious.

Investigating the September 6 incident that occurred in the Pineview Circle trailer park, deputies learned a dispute was called into dispatch at approximately 10:28 p.m. That night, Deputy Cox reported to the scene, noting in his report that he observed. Shaquanna Ratliff leaving the residence in her vehicle when he arrived. Stopping, she informed Deputy Cox that individuals had been on the property earlier causing a disturbance but as they had now left, she stated that law enforcement was no longer needed. Cox added he did not notice Ratliff’s Chevy Tahoe present at the scene on Sep. 6. Law enforcement never received a call of shots being fired in the trailer park that evening.

Increasingly becoming alarmed, by 9:36 p.m. on September 8, Detective Captain Tice instructed all detectives to report back to the missing man’s home, establishing an official crime scene at 9:52 p.m. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Darryl Richardson Sr. is asked to call the Anson County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 694-4188.
