The last few weeks have brought to light the growing conflict between Christianity and the secular world. The executive committee of the Boy Scouts of America unanimously approved to end the ban on homosexual adult leaders of scouting programs. The Boy Scouts had previously dropped the ban on homosexual scouts in 2013 but had kept the ban on homosexual scout leaders until just last week. Corporations all across America included in their promotions the “rainbow flag” symbolizing their complete acceptance of the same sex marriage debate. Commercials airing on TV showed their support as well as many national corporations hosted “burlesque masquerade fantasy” parties and “gay pride” parades. Many floats included in the parades featured public nudity and vulgarity even though many children were present. Even the White House was bathed in the rainbow colors the day the Supreme Court made their historic same-sex marriage decision. However, at Christmas the White House has refused to include a “nativity scene” because it might offend some people.
The Public Broadcasting System (PBS) featured many documentaries introducing children to the transgender lifestyle. “Growing Up Trans,” is a show about normalizing the transgender lifestyle to the next generation. The “TV Land” channel aired a new program, “Impastor,” which ridicules Christianity. The main character, posing as a gay preacher, hired sight unseen by a church, is not a real pastor but only poses as one. However, his lifestyle also includes drug use and sleeping around with women. The intention of the show seems to be to depict pastors in a negative light and promote lies about Christianity. Can you imagine TV Land ridiculing and mocking Mohammed or Muslims? However, it is open season on Christianity.
In North Carolina and across the nation, we have had many county magistrates and court clerks forced to resign because they refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. It has been predicted that soon churches, charities, and private schools will be punished for standing in opposition to same-sex marriages. The next step would be for the government to revoke the tax exempt status of churches or deny federal grants or contracts to institutions and companies (such as adoption agencies or food banks) that object to same-sex couples.
So why has Christianity become such a liability in our culture today? This is not a new battle. The spiritual battle can be traced back to the very beginning. When Adam and Eve were first deceived by Satan in Genesis chapter 3, the attack was on the Word of God. Satan came to Eve and asked, “Did God really say, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” The assault has always been and will always be on God and His Word, the Bible. Satan is not against the religions of this world, his attack is against TRUTH. Adam and Eve were deceived by the lies of Satan and the world has been rejecting the truth ever since.
