The arrival of Anson Senior High’s new principal shook up the student body, but Mr. Chris Stinson has been well-received and is determined to return the school “back to dominance.”

The former principal of Anson New Tech said he knew it was time to leave there and he was ready for new opportunities. When asked if he missed New Tech he responded, “You are always going to miss something you have invested time in.”

Stinson said he missed the day-to-day interactions with students in a smaller environment and is having to adjust by stretching his time out more evenly to accommodate the needs of 600 students. He believes that young people will be young people wherever you are and he is just doing his job.

Regardless of school size, at the end of the day, Stinson enjoys working with young people and assisting them in pursuing their goals in life. He is working hard to instill a sense of pride into the student body and is encouraging them to own their education. He often tells students, “Where you come from is important and should be used to propel you to where you want to go in life.”

His original plan was to be a coach and he started off his career at Anson High School.

“It’s refreshing to come back to Anson,” Stinson said.

When he was in high school, his own principal suggested that Stinson should obtain a license to become a principal, but he was not interested at the time. Although he is a principal now, Stinson still views himself as a coach in the game of life as he points students in a successful direction.

He refers back to advice his grandfather gave him; “If you don’t like your current situation, deal with it, relocate, or go get in charge.”

As a principal, he is proud to have a stronger voice in decision-making and in creating a good educational environment for students.

Stinson said he is proud of the student body at AHS and how well they welcomed Anson New Tech onto their campus. He is enthusiastic about the direction in which the campus is moving and for the opportunities it will bring to the students.

Anson High School is excited to have him as its new principal and is grateful that Chris Stinson has decided to join the Anson High School family.
