To the editor:
(EDITOR’S NOTE: This letter is a response to the July 22 column, “A war on Christianity?” by Pastor Barry Byrd.)
First, the pastor’s quotations from Genesis Chapter 3 do not match my Bible (King James). The pastor’s quotations are; “Did God really say, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” My King James Bible reads thus; “NOW the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. and he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”(Gen. 3:1)
The pastor also said; “Adam and Eve were deceived by the lies of Satan and the world has been rejecting the truth ever since.”
My Bible says; “And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”(I Tim. 3:14)
It is almost universally taught that Adam was deceived by Satan, but there is no Scripture for that teaching. What could be any clearer than what is laid down here in this Scripture?
