Wadesboro police announced the identity of a man whose body was found earlier this week, as well as the names of four suspects arrested on suspicion of his murder.

Police arrested Quentin Cornelius Teal, 22, of Wadesboro; Demetrian Alphonso Teal, 19, also of Wadesboro; James Edward Henderson Jr., 19, of Cheraw; and Reginald Lamont Jenkins II, 19, of Morven, on Friday. The WPD and the State Bureau of Investigation identified their motive as robbery.

The men were charged with the felony first degree murder of Phillip Lee Burgess, whose body was found in the parking lot of the Hair Shack, located on Highway 74 East, just after midnight on Monday.

All four suspects are being held in the Anson County Jail without bond.

In addition to the murder charge, Henderson is charged with hit and run/leaving the scene with property damage and resisting a public officer, according to the listing on the Anson County Jail inmate list. Those charges have a combined secured bond of $2,500.

WPD Chief Thedis Spencer made his statement on the case when he announced the arrests via a pres release on Friday. “I would like to send my condolences to the victim’s family and thank them for their patience and trust they had in us during this investigation,” he said. “I would also like to thank the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Anson County Emergency Services for their assistance with this investigation.”
