ANSON COUNTY — Court officials have announced a plan to begin a phased approach to expanding operations as part of the Judicial Branch’s efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and keep the public and court employees safe.
“We want the public to know that we have taken a number of safety precautions, implemented a number of safety measures and worked with local public health officials to make sure that we are as safe as possible to conduct court business in Anson County,” said Clerk of Superior Court Mark Hammonds. “We ask for your patience as we work to resume normal operations.”
Chief Justice Beasley recently issued several orders designed to safely bring courts back to full operation.
“The North Carolina Judicial Branch continues to monitor the coronavirus situation throughout the state,” said Chief Justice Beasley. “We will continue to collaborate with state public health partners as well as North Carolina Emergency Management to closely monitor the situation to ensure the health and safety of our courts, judicial community, and the public.”
For the health and safety of the public, only those who have business with the court will be allowed inside the courthouse. Safety measures are in place at the Anson County courthouse including face coverings, that are required for entry; SOCIAL distancing, hand sanitizing, and occupancy limits (within the gallery/public seating) per CDC protocols. court is going to look different for a while. dockets will be smaller. in addition to face coverings, temperatures will be taken at the Security Checking Station. Our hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Note: In the Anson County courts; beginning June 8th, 2020 cases in both the Superior and the District Court (criminal and civil) will be scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. setting, or a 2:00 p.m. setting. Individuals should consult with their attorney for the date and time their case has been docketed or, contact the Anson Clerk of Court at (704) 994-3800.
