The annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby was held Saturday, April 1 at the Fireman’s Training Center in Wadesboro.

The Derby, sponsored by C&M Auto Supply, allowed scouts from the Pee Dee District (Anson and Richmond counties) to build their own unique wooden car from a kit and race against their peers.

“The benefits, for Cub Scouts and their adult partners, are discovered through the derby process itself: strengthening bonds, sharing responsibility, developing teamwork, learning new skills, exercising creativity, building sportsmanship, and making new friends,” Laura Laney, the Cub Scouts Pee Dee District membership and marketing chairperson, said in a release.
