WADESBORO — The Friday morning commute off of U.S. 74 slowed significantly after a truck struck a pole on the corner of the highway and Green Street. No one was injured in the incident.

The driver was making a right-hand turn onto Green Street and a trough on the truck hit a pole, causing two of the traffic lights hanging by wires to fall. The lights were soon pulled back up and then measured to ensure they are at the right height.

This caused morning commuters traffic to be stopped in all four directions of this intersection. Emergency staff and officers directed traffic until the mess was cleared.

Chief of Anson County Emergency Services Rodney Diggs reported no injuries from the accident.
