WADESBORO — South Piedmont Community College welcomes two new hires to start the new semester.
Ryan Anthony comes on as the new dean of the School of Health and Public Safety. Renee Hode is hired as the director of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Both come to the area with diverse backgrounds and experience.
Anthony most recently worked as faculty and coordinator for the department of public safety and administration of justice at El Camino College in Torrance, California. Before that, he served as an officer in the San Fernando and Beverly Hills Police Departments, where he specialized in crisis negotiation, traffic and gang units.
Hode moved from Central Piedmont Community College to SPCC. She worked at Central Piedmont for 15 years and served in various roles including Executive Director of the Small Business Center.
“I look forward to working with agencies and community partners,” Anthony said. “Expanding the opportunities here will lead to finding lots of jobs for students.”
She also serves as a North Carolina Community College System Director in which she supports seven different centers in the southwest region of the state in training new directors and overseeing compliance.
In 2019, Hode was recognized by the North Carolina Community College System as the SBC Director of the Year.
“Building partnerships with area chambers and local and state agencies will bolster opportunities for our small businesses.” Hode said. “There is so much opportunity for growth in our area.”
