WADESBORO — Anson native and media talent Belinda Kendall was named to the Board of Directors for Global Impact Initiative, an Austin-based non-profit.
Kendall is the founder of Promise Media Group and hosts her own talk show where she interviews celebrities, international community and business leaders, as well as every day folk with extraordinary stories.
Now, she will step in as a leader for Global Impact Initiative as a member of the Board of Directors.
Global Impact Initiative works to produce and provide innovative education and professional development programs for all levels and ages. The initiative’s work includes mentorships, workforce development and educator training, among others.
“We have to realize that people are like banks and you can only take out what’s been deposited,” Kendall said in a press release. “We have to be committed to making new deposits in other people’s lives through education, experience, and healthy habits. This is the only way we will be able to change a generation and, consequently, the world. That’s the least we can do to justify our existence on this earth.”
Kendall will joining other international education, business and legal professionals — Ida Beerhalter, Hanan Malkawi, Kimberly Weichel, Cameron Mirza, Lenore Stjepik, Nadeem Poonawala and Jamie Whitney.
“I have been impressed with Belinda’s work in media, marketing and public relations,” Anjum Malik, Global Impact Initiative president and executive director, said in a press release. “Her expertise and experience are a perfect addition to Gii’s mission of working with communities that have been marginalized.”
Kendall also serves on the Executive Board of Directors for Fans of America Foundation, where she was the first African-American woman to hold this role. Fans of America Foundation is a non-profit that supports veterans internationally.
