PEACHLAND — Sheriff’s deputies and state agents are investigating a shooting death reported last Thursday.
A 911 call came in around 4:16 p.m. about someone who had been shot and was not breathing, according to a Friday release from the Anson County Sheriff’s Office.
Although first responders arrived and provided aid within minutes, they found Tadarrell Durrall Lee, 38, dead at the scene, according to the release. Lee had been shot multiple times, Sheriff Landric Reid said.
The death occurred at a single-family home at 614 North Boston Ave. in Peachland, according to an incident report.
Deputies had not identified a suspect in the shooting as of Monday afternoon, Capt. Tim Watkins said. Watkins would not say whether there was anyone else in the home at the time of Lee’s death.
The person who called 911 told dispatchers someone had been shot and that gunshots were heard in the area, Deputy Steven Scarborough wrote in the report.
Scarborough and another deputy went to the scene, but an officer from the Polkton Police Department and a member of the Peachland Fire Department had already arrived, with the officer giving Lee chest compressions, according to the report.
The report lists a handgun as the suspected weapon, but Lee’s body will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death. His remains were sent to the state medical examiner’s office, according to Anson County deputies.
Some details in the incident report were redacted because the case remains open.
Deputies are investigating the homicide along with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Capt. Tim Watkins of the Anson County Sheriff’s Office at 704-694-4188.
