The 2016 Barn Blast is just around the corner.

The Anson County Partnership for Children will host its 10th annual fundraiser to benefit young children in Anson County at 5 p.m. this Friday at the Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro.

Organizers credit presenting sponsors Poisson Poisson & Bower, Attorneys at Law, and Uwharrie Bank with the event’s continued success.

Sponsor a Child for Shaundasia will celebrate the life of Shaundasia Smith, beloved granddaughter of Sheriff Landric Reid and wife Cassandra. Friends and supporters are encouraged to sponsor children birth to 5 to receive Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books for one year in her memory.

Cost for one year per child is $25. Those unable to attend the Barn Blast can send contributions to: Anson County Partnership for Children, Sponsor a Child for Shaundasia, 117 S. Greene St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.

To keep the Barn Blast exciting, several new games and opportunities to win valuable prizes will be offered, organizers said. Blue-line bidding is an opportunity for guests to try their luck at winning 10 percent off all Barn Blast purchases, excluding “Sponsor a Child for Shaundasia.”

Each person who enters his or her bids on the blue line of the silent auction bid sheets will be entered in the blue-line bidding for a chance to win the 10 percent discount at checkout.

The 2016 Barn Blast has also rounded up gift certificates for the new Rodeo Roundup. Barn Blast guests can buy gift certificates at face value to benefit children in Anson County.

Rodeo Roundup will include gift certificates for Otterbox, Publix, Maggiano’s and many others.

Bonanza prizes include a Ruger LCP .380-caliber handgun donated by Anson Tactical Arms; a $500 voucher for a Norwegian cruise donated by Norwegian Cruise Line; and a two-night stay at the Inn of the Patriots in the mountains of North Carolina.

The grand prize for “The Good, the Bad and the Lucky” card game is a choice of a week-long Sugar Mountain condo vacation donated by John Crider or a .270 Remington rifle donated by Robbie Hill. Other prizes include two $100 gift certificates donated by Family Dollar.

Lucky Ducky players are always guaranteed to win a prize. In addition to the varied array of Lucky Ducky surprises, players have a chance to win gift certificates to the Carolina Restaurant, Total Wine, Red Box, CVS, Walmart, Auto Zone and Welika Restaurant.

The Lucky Ducky grand prize (valued at $5,500) is a night at the Five Diamond, Five Star Eau Hotel and Resort in Palm Beach, Florida, as well as a private portrait sitting at the world-renowned photography studio of Bradford Rowley and a 20-inch wall portrait on canvas.

The 2016 Barn Blast will welcome Gina Clark, an Anson County singer and theatre performer. Clark is donating a serenade to kick off the live auction this year. The top bidder will be able to have Clark serenade a person of his or her choice at the Barn Blast.

Other live auction items include lunch with the sheriff; a Ghost Commander Paranormal Investigators hunt in Wadesboro; Dan Post boots donated by McRae Industries; a hand-carved oak bowl donated by Emmett Patterson; an Asheville package including tickets to the Biltmore Estate; a week at an Outer Banks beach house; an Orlando package including tickets to Disney World and Sea World; two round trip JetBlue tickets to any JetBlue destination; a Coach handbag and Cynthia Little’s handmade quilt featuring the movie “Frozen.”

Dolly’s Sealed-Bid Auction includes two valuable Elvis Presley memorabilia collections donated by Dr. Fred and Madeline Thompson and several pieces of furniture donated by Robert and Lynn Horton including a 6½-foot-tall Queen Anne highboy chest.
