More than 1,400 Anson County residents cast their ballots during one-stop early voting, which ended Saturday in advance of Tuesday’s primary elections.

Democrats had the largest turnout, with 1,166 people— registered Democrats and unaffiliated voters — participating in the Democratic primary.

A combined 787 Wadesboro voters from all three precincts voted. Lilesville had the next biggest turnout, with 224 showing up at the polls. The Morven and McFarlan precinct followed with 133 voters turning out, and Gulledge followed closely behind with 114.

Ansonville had 61 citizens vote while Burnsville had 54. Peachland had 26 and Polkton had 19. Three voters were in the White Store precinct.

As of March 7, the early voting numbers had been comparable to previous presidential primaries, according to Steve Adams, director of the Anson County Board of Elections.

“We are pretty much at a steady flow of voters — and very comparable to the last presidential primary,” Adams said at the time.

Early voting was held from March 3 to March 12 at the Board of Elections. Voters went to their precinct polls on Tuesday.
