Anson Women’s League announces its annual college scholarship program.
The club will award $500 scholarships to four college-bound female graduates from Anson County this year. Applications will be available through April 10. One scholarship of special note is the Eloise Rywak Scholarship offered each year by a special request from her family.
Applications will be judged primarily on academic achievement and financial need. The league welcomes evidence of students’ involvement and leadership in clubs, churches, extracurricular activities and charitable service in the community. A written essay addressing these activities will provide further support in the evaluation process. Finalists will also be interviewed by the scholarship committee.
Application forms will be available through the various high school guidance counselors or by telephoning Terri Carpenter, chairperson of the Anson Women’s League Scholarship Committee, at 704-694-0301. (She is in Room K-206 at Anson High School.) Applications can also be obtained by writing to the Anson Women’s League, P.O. Box 94, Wadesboro, NC 28170 or through the Hampton B. Allen Library.
Applications are welcome from all Anson County high school students, including those who are homeschooled.
