Lt. Col. Peggy Ratliff McManus with the U.S. Army graduated from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Penn. with a master’s degree in strategic studies on June 9.

Gen. Daniel B. Allyn, Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, addressed the graduates about Army readiness and future leadership challenges in a complex world.

Graduate studies included a completion of a strategy research project entitled, “Maintaining an Operational Army Reserve Force for the Future.”

A former resident of Anson County, McManus will next serve at the Pentagon as Office Deputy Chief Staff G-1 in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Army War College’s 10-month curriculum educates and develops senior military officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, as well as senior foreign military officers and civilian officials from a variety of federal agencies, to serve in strategic level command and staff positions worldwide.

McManus is married to Robert McManus Jr. and has one son, Andre McManus.
