A woman was arrested after she allegedly attacked a deputy with the Anson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Darius Ellison was attempting to arrest Simona T. Conrad, 27, of Wadesboro, when the trouble allegedly began. Conrad was “refusing to comply with verbal commands and jerking away” from Ellison and kicked him “between the legs,” according to arrest warrants.

At the time, Conrad allegedly had up to half an ounce of marijuana in her possession, according to the warrant.

Conrad was charged with assaulting an officer, resisting a public officer and possession of up to one half of an ounce of marijuana, all misdemeanors. She was booked in the Anson County Jail and is due to appear in court on those charges on Aug. 15.

North Carolina court records online show that Conrad is also due to appear in court for communicating threats and injury to personal property, both misdemeanors, on July 25.

Online state records show that Conrad has one previous conviction from 2014 for misdemeanor breaking and entering.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
