21 charges filed in checkpoints

Deputies from the Anson County Sheriff’s Office work with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, Homeland Security and North Carolina State Highway Patrol made several arrests June 1 in a multi-agency saturation patrol around ABC outlets and neighborhoods throughout the county.

The operation focused on three areas: alcohol violations, traffic violations and drug violations.

As a result of the patrol, 21 charges were filed including felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of ecstasy, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, multiple driving charges and one firearm violation.

“I would like to thank all the agencies involved in this operation, working together with local, state and federal agencies benefit all of our citizens and we will continue to work together to better serve Anson County,” Sheriff Landric Reid said in a statement.
