A group of churches of several different faiths have joined together in hopes of uniting the Anson County community.
After the National Day of Prayer this year, pastors T.J. Horne and Jim Phillips recognized the need for different faiths and races to come together and worship, said April Ratliff, publicist for the crusade.
“There are 15 churches altogether making this happen,” she said.
The Anson County Crusade will begin on April 27, continue through April 30, and conclude on May 1. The crusade will be held at the Anson High School stadium, with the exception of April 29, when the service will be held at Harvest Ministries Outreach Center, located behind Pizza Hut and McDonald’s on U.S. Highway 74.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. nightly, with services beginning at 7 p.m.
Each night there will be two speakers, with a youth drama presentation on Wednesday night at Harvest Ministries, Ratliff said.
“We’re planning for over 100,” she said, “but we hope there will be even more.”
Ratliff added that the names of which pastors leading which services will not be announced in advance. “We don’t want people to pick and choose,” she said. “This is about all of Anson County coming together.”
Scheduled speakers include: Pastor Jim Phillips (Deep Springs Baptist), T.J. Horne (Rock Hill Missionary Baptist), Barry Byrd (Mt. Beulah Baptist), Prophetess Sandra Ellerbe (New Parkers Grove), Tony Barr (Ebenezer Missionary Baptist), Steve Adams (Harvest Ministries), Dr. Jerry Tyson (Flat Rock Missionary Baptist), Dr. Robert Hunter (First Baptist of Wadesboro) and Dr. Harry McNeil (Parson’s Grove).
The event is free, and the Anson High School Boosters Club will be serving refreshments.
