According to a news release, volunteers play a vital role in McLeod Hospice. Volunteers may make deliveries to patients’ homes or provide companionship by making home or hospital visits with patients. They may also provide massage therapy, pet therapy, play instruments or even sing for patients.
Other ways to volunteer could include: helping with yard maintenance, assisting in the office, sitting with the patient so that their caregiver can take a break or run an errand, making an encouraging phone call to let the patient know that they are being thought of, running errands for a patient or even providing haircuts for homebound patients.
A life-limiting illness can be devastating and have far-reaching effects. Patients and their families need a solid support system during this time of crisis. McLeod Hospice provides that support.
McLeod Hospice serves patients in Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Horry, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Sumter and Williamsburg counties.
For more information or to register for the training, call the Rev. Layne Rogerson, volunteer coordinator for McLeod Hospice at 843-320-5510.
