LETTER: Anson’s Confederate monument should stay

To the editor:

I am a new subscriber to your paper, a native of Olive Branch, Union County, and a son of the South. I am very disappointed by your article concerning the Confederate monument at the Anson County courthouse. How disingenuous that one person could dictate the narrative with one narrow view of a very complicated war, and be offended by a monument honoring fallen soldier? Such a limited view. And yes, it should stay. These soldiers fought to preserve freedom, helping out an unwading viscous army. They were honorable and noble soldiers.
