Municipal election filing starts

Bill Thacker filed for election for a third mayoral term in Wadesboro on Monday, supported by his wife, Norma.

Election filing for the November municipal election opened on Monday at noon. Within two hours, Wadesboro Mayor Bill Thacker refiled for office.

Thacker served on the town council for one and a half terms before becoming mayor and is currently completing his second term as mayor. With each term four years in length, he has served almost 14 years for the town and is now pursuing a third mayoral term.

Early voting for the Wadesboro municipal election will be held Oct. 22 to Nov. 1. Election Day for Ansonville, Lilesville, McFarlan, Morven, Peachland, Polkton and Wadesboro will be on Nov. 3 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The last day to register to vote is Oct. 9.

Candidate filing for the election will be open until next Friday at noon. The Board of Elections office is located at 402 Morven Road, Wadesboro. Call 704-994-3223 or email director Steve Adams at sadams@co.anson.nc.us for more information.
