Members of Bowman High School’s class of 1975 gathered for their 40th class reunion Oct. 16-17.
The theme for the event was “Excited! Delighted! Reunited!” A registration and meet-and-greet was held Oct. 16 at the Ladybug Family Restaurant in Wadesboro.
Members attended a tailgate at Anson High School and watched the Anson Bearcats host Piedmont for their homecoming game. An afterparty was held at the HOLLA Center in Morven with entertainment provided by Gatewood Productions.
A reunion gala was held Oct. 17 at South Piedmont Community College’s Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro. Jeffery Brodie provided the welcome. Prayer was given by Minister Purcell Ward. Organizers played the tribute song “Reunited” by Peaches and Herb.
Lyndon Gaddy introduced the reunion steering committee. Joletha Gordon-Little and Elizabeth Thomas Kersey provided a memorial tribute featuring the song “I Can Only Imagine.” Brodie provided a review of the reunion committee’s finances.
Honorees in attendance were Dr. Atheria Patton and recognized in his absence, Ken Goin. Photographer Ronnie Bennett of Morven took the class photo. David Pym gave a blessing of the food. Thompson-Roger Catering served hors d’oeuvres and appetizers.
Organizers said spirits were in high gear when superlatives were announced for those who traveled the farthest distance, who had the most grandchildren and who had changed the least. Bowman alumni took part in a ’70s trivia game and the famous Soul Train line dance with music provided by Gatewood Productions.
Steering committee members Joletha Gordon-Little, Elizabeth Thomas Kersey, Cynthia Harrington-Cash, Sandra Lotharp Shank, Sandra Polk Johnson, Karen Burney Nash, Vanessa Allen Brodie, Jeffery Brodie, Alexander Gaddy and Lyndon Gaddy thanked all the classmates in attendance, who they said made the 40th class reunion a success.
