Anson County will hold an open public meeting Feb. 28 to discuss the county’s Resilient Redevelopment Planning process, being carried out in 50 counties across central and eastern North Carolina in response to the effects of Hurricane Matthew.

The process is being carried out as part of a program initiated by the N.C. General Assembly under the 2016 Disaster Recovery Act.

The purpose of the program is to further assist community recovery by developing mid-term action plans which will categorize relevant, unmet needs in order to investigate funding channels and address legal requirements and/or constraints.

The plans will also provide the foundation for the state’s Recover Action Plan that is required the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development before the state can expend the funding received from the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Relief program.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Anson County Government Center, 101 S. Green St., Suite 209.

Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
