Morven Las Amigas member Pat McCoy was crowned the 2016-2017 chapter queen on Dec. 17, 2016 at the club’s annual Christmas dance held at the Wadesboro Twin Valley Country Club.

McCoy is a resident of Morven. She has been a member of Las Amigas for 27 years and has held the offices of president, vice-president, treasurer, chaplain, sergeant at arms, parliamentarian and historian. Currently she is the chapter recording and correspondence secretary.

McCoy is the mother of three children — Cynthia Lindsey (deceased), Kenneth and Lykessa McCoy — and has three grandchildren — Patrick, Ashley and Wesley. Her astrological sign is Pisces and she is a member of Streater Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Morven. Her hobbies are sports, sewing and traveling.

Her motto to live by is, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She also likes 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In everything give thanks.”

Las Amigas is a non-profit organization, which provides guidance for constructive work in educational and civic activities. The organization strives to increase the cultural awareness and understanding of its members through sponsored activities.
