WADESBORO — An Anson basketball alumnus is getting ready to lead a new team as the head coach of the Forest Hills Boys Basketball program.
Danny Bailey has been working as an assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets for the past seven years. During his time, the team experienced a state championship win, a state championship runner up finish and six consecutive final four appearances, according to a press release from Union County Athletics website.
He will continue the Forest Hills basketball momentum in his new role as head coach.
Bailey played at Anson High School under Coach Matt Sides. He then went on to play at Sandhills Community College.
It was after graduating community college that Bailey became part of the Forest Hills family. He first worked as the JV basketball head coach and teaching assistant. During this time, he continued his college education and, in 2018, he graduated from the University of North Carolina Pembroke with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
Bailey continues to work at Forest Hills as a Social Studies teacher.
“Coach Bailey takes prides in everything he does,” a press release from Forest Hills said. “He will continue to do things first class and the Jacket way. He is a student of the game and quick and humble learner. He is already well respected by the players, students and staff.”
