ANSON — During the Anson County Commissioner August 6 meeting, County Manager Leonard Sossoman introduced the subject of revamping the EMS emergency management employment structure.
Sossoman advised retaining current Emergency Services Chief and Fire Marshal Randy Diggs and his Deputy Fire Marshal Wes Stegall for the fire marshal and emergency services positions. He recommended having Brian “Bubba” Nance serve in the position of EMS chief director.
Commissioners’ Jarvis Woodburn and Lawrence Gatewood requested holding off on a vote until their next meeting on August 20, requesting a leadership flow chart for the board to better visualize the restructuring process prior to voting. Now, armed with an organizational flow chart, Sossoman reintroduced the topic during his manager’s report Tuesday.
Lawrence Gatewood questioned who Brian Nance would report to based on the employment organization chart, to which Sossoman replied Nance will report to him.
Referencing the operational side of the restructuring plan, Commissioner Priscilla Little-Reid said prior to voting, “I would like to return to the discussion at a later date, after we vote tonight, you know just to discuss it at a later date, get some more information about it.”
The motion to approve restructuring, made by Commissioner Lawrence Gatewood and seconded by Robert Mims passed without opposition or further discussion.
