ANSONVILLE — A female victim was hit in the head with a pistol and transported to Atrium Health Anson on March 5.

Anson County Sheriff Department deputies responded to Colson Avenue following the 911 call. The victim called in the assault before being transported to the hospital. According to the incident report, the assault did not cause serious bodily injury. She needed a few staples to stitch the wound on her head.

The victim reported one of the suspects called her prior to arriving at the residence and said, “you gonna see what this Glock do.” She was in the yard when a silver Hyundai Sonata pulled to the front. Three people exited the vehicle and rushed her, according to the incident report. One of the three was recording the incident. The other two allegedly assaulted the victim by beating and hitting her.

Deputies arrested Kari Johnson for the assault. Johnson is placed on a $500 unsecured bond.

March 1

WADESBORO – At 7:16 a.m., deputies responded to Hildreth Mobile Home Park following a domestic report.

POLKTON – At 7:33 a.m., deputies responded to Howell Child Care Center following a larceny report. Someone stole part of an exhaust from the children’s center.

ANSONVILLE – At 1:13 p.m., deputies responded to U.S. Highway 52 following a report of stolen property and a drug and narcotic violation. Tires and rims were stolen from Richmond County. The stolen parts were then found on property in Anson County. The suspect has an arrest warrant.

WADESBORO – At 5:21 p.m., deputies responded to Firetower Road following a child abuse report. Allegations were made from a mother with a child who attended Happy Face Daycare. When she picked up her eight-month-old son from the daycare one day, she saw marks on him. The mother removed the child from that school and took pictures of the marks. This is an ongoing investigation.

MORVEN – At 11:50 p.m., deputies responded to the Family Dollar following a breaking and entering report.

March 2

MORVEN – At 10:12 a.m., deputies responded to U.S. Highway 52 following reports of a forcible breaking and entering and damage to real property. An employee of the funeral home noticed the back door was broken into. Nothing is reported missing at this time.

POLKTON – At 1:57 p.m., deputies responded to N.C. 218 following a report of obtaining property by false pretenses. The victim reported a transaction from her bank account of $1,000 and charges of her credit card of $1,700 through Paypal.

WADESBORO – At 2:00 p.m., deputies responded to N.C. 742 following a forcible breaking and entering report.

WADESBORO – At 4:52 p.m., deputies responded to Union Church Road following a forcible breaking and entering report.

WADESBORO – At 5:07 p.m., deputies responded to Pit Road to investigate a death. A man was found laying on the ground in a peach orchard. The deceased is out of Richmond County. He went to go fishing, but while walking back suffered medical issues and died. There were no signs of foul play.

March 3

LILESVILLE – At 12:00 p.m., deputies responded to Ingram Mountain Road following reports of breaking and entering and damage to personal property.

WADESBORO – At 1:53 p.m., deputies responded to Grassy Island Road following reports of larceny and non-forced breaking and entering.

March 4

MORVEN – At 9:15 a.m., deputies responded to Short Town Road following an arson report. After the Morven Fire Department arrived on the scene and investigated, the department determined the fire was intentionally started outside. The fire department called law enforcement. There was exterior damage to the house and no injuries.

March 5

POLKTON – At 11:09 p.m., deputies arrested a male for driving while impaired. The vehicle was traveling east bound on U.S. Highway 74 at high speeds. The deputy ran the license plate number and it showed as being suspended. The deputy pulled over the vehicle and noticed a male asleep at the wheel while the vehicle was still in drive. He had slurred speech, red glassy eyes, appeared unbalanced and the vehicle smelled of alcohol. The deputy transported him to the Intox room, then later charged with driving while impaired.

March 6

WADESBORO – At 11:33 p.m., deputies responded to U.S. Highway 74 following a drug and narcotic violation. A deputy saw a vehicle struck a guardrail and continue driving. The deputy followed the vehicle and stopped it. When approaching the car, the deputy could smell a strong odor of marijuana. Both the driver and the passenger were charged. The driver has two charges – possession and driving with license provoked. The passenger was charged with a small possession citation.

March 7

WADESBORO – At 3:07 a.m., deputies responded to U.S. Highway 74 following a carry concealed gun report.

WADESBORO – At 9:43 a.m., deputies responded to Mooreslake Road following reports of larceny of motor vehicle, obtaining property by false pretenses and larceny. The victim reported her boyfriend stole her car, two debit cards and cash.

MORVEN – At 10:22 a.m., deputies responded to Adams Road following a domestic report.

LILESVILLE – At 1:33 p.m., deputies responded to Stanback Ferry Road following a domestic report.

WADESBORO – At 4:34 p.m., deputies responded at the sheriff’s department following a child custody dispute.
