First Baptist Church is hosting a Lenten Choral Service, its annual choral presentation, Saturday at 7 p.m. and again on Palm Sunday during the 11 a.m. worship service.

The Children’s Easter Program will be Palm Sunday at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Youth and families are welcome to join the festivities at 309 Lee Ave. in uptown Wadesboro.

An Easter Egg Hunt for children will begin the program, complete with prizes and candy. A hamburger supper will be provided for everyone in attendance. Adults and youth are invited to participate in the Talent Show.

According to a news release, while some talent acts have been planned, there will be an “Open Mic” opportunity for anyone who would like to share.

The church does ask that those planning to attend call the church at 704-694-9365 and sign up so that enough food and supplies can be prepared.

Saturday’s Lenten Choral Service will reflect on the last week of Christ’s life on earth.

The church’s chancel choir, soloists and pipe organ under the direction and accompaniment of Scott Foppiano will provide a contemplative and beautiful reflection of Christ’s sacred passion, interspersed with Scriptural accounts.

The musical presentation will detail the events from His triumphal entry into Jerusalem through the Last Supper, the trial before Pilate, His passion, condemnation and ultimate crucifixion.

Music by composers such as David H. Williams, Stephen Adams (“The Holy City”), Gabriel Faure, Buryl Red and Andrew Lloyd Webber are but a few of the pieces that will paint the picture of Holy Week through music.

All are invited, and there is no charge.
