Troop #1389 hosts a donation drive for those in Anson who struggle with food insecurity.
WADESBORO — Anson Girl Scout Troop #1389 hosted a food donation drive at Parsons Drug Company on October 9. They collected 596 pounds or over a ¼ ton of food.
Anson Girl Scouts joined troops throughout the Hornet’s Nest Council to support neighbors in need by collecting food for Second Harvest Food Bank and partner agencies. All food collected is being distributed through Anson Crisis Ministries and is staying within Anson County for those in need. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in Anson struggle with food insecurity, so this donation drive can change so many people’s lives.
